Nismo Carbon Style Pillar covers

Bought from good old eBay for $30 or so.

Step 1:  pull out part of the rubber mould and remove 3 clips at the bottom of the pillar.

Step 2: undo the 4 screws that holds the metal bracket for the rubber mould.

Step 3: pry the pillar cover in 3 separate spots. Be careful here not to break the clips.

I unfortunately broke a clip on each side when undoing mine... oh well.... bit of double sided tape should do the trick.

After 15-20mins of re-applying the decal on the plastic panel (using soapy water) and leave it to dry up overnight. Probably better off waiting for a few days but I couldnt wait, sooooo...

Few layers of clear paint to protect the decal and avoid it from peeling (I hope).

All done and sorted... bit of bubbles on one side that will hopefully work itself out while under sun??

GTR303 @ Lake Macquarie (1.5hrs from Sydney)

Not much has changed with the car which is always a good thing. Better to have no change which equates to less $$$$ spent :)

Air Flow Meter - GTR303

Ive decided to make the GTR a reliable car rather than a toy that gets thrashed around like I have done with my previous cars (Lancer GSR, Nissan 200sx, Subaru WRX)

Here's some pics of the AFMs before I sprayed them with Contact cleaner ($27.95 a can!). The element carrier is orange/red in colour, but mine as you can see are almost completely black!

Here's another after it has been cleaned

It took no time at all to remove the AFMs. I cleaned the elements by spraying contact cleaner through the gauze and onto the element. Left them both for the rest of the day while the cleaner completely evaporated, then refitted them.

Why clean your AFMs? Improve throttle response and driveability is what Im expecting.

Brake cleaner can also be used but as it leaves oilly residue, contact cleaner is best for cleaning your AFMs.

More pics can be found here....

GTR303 - DIY front lip

Some luck and a bit of skill and you too should be able to fix your cracked lip :)

I personally think the Black looks a lot nicer!! Do you?

The silly uneven driveway !

No chance of lowering the car

... not yet anyway

HICAS lock bar goes into the GTR

Why do you eliminate Hicas?

A: The main advantage is the removal of a system which changes the attitude of the rear of the car (not the driver). Most drivers prefer to be in control, not an ECU. It is very disconcerting to have chosen a line around a corner and then have the HICAS change it. You decide to correct, and the HICAS changes it again. This is very unsettling, and the primary reason most drivers get rid of the system.

In addition, the removal of the rear steering rack makes up a significant weight saving.

GTR303 is too loud??

Well, the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) thought that it was so they decided to send me a formal notice for a noise check to be done!

The GTR had to be, at most 90db @5200rpm!

Front pipe with standard cat , piping and standard GTR muffler = 95db WTF!!
Above setup with standard front pipe = 94db WTF!! x 2
Above setup with standard GTST muffler = 88db!!!

What a pain in the arse!!!

Nismo LM-GT1 (18"x10" +12) by Rays Engineering

No turning back now! Off to Melbourne to pay and pick up the Nismo LM-GT1 rims for the R33.

After a sleepless night and waking up at 4am, I arrive at Sydney Airport prior to the 6am flight! 1.5 hrs on a bus to Melbourne CBD, 30 mins train trip to meet Iqbal (the seller), I finally cast my eyes on my wheels!

My first impression was the tyres are too skinny! Luckily,Iqbal had another set of 265x35x18. So off to the shop to get them changed!

Next couple of hours was spent packing the tyres and wheels with cardboard and worrying about whether Jetstar will allow me to check in 4 wheels in garbage bags!!! That plus the fact that time was ticking and I had to be back in Melbourne CBD to catch the Bus to Avalon! (made it with less than 5 mins to spare!)

Got to the airport and checked in and I was 42kg over!!! Had $4.00 in total when I arrived in Sydney. The savings card was over the withdrawal limit and the car was half a klm away!!!

I eventually arrived home at around 9:30pm!!!

Well worth the trouble?

Fitting problems - Ganador copies!

The mounting plates do not match those of the R33. Looks like theyre meant for R32s?

Hopefully once these are sent back, the supplier will send me the right ones!

Kids & GTR Combo?

One of the biggest question I had prior to buying a Skyline was will we fit with 2 kids? (1yo and 4yo).

Searching the Net was impossible for pics ....

Im no bigfoot (only 6ft) and dont really sit up straight whilst driving but as you can clearly see, my little girl and boy have more than enough room.

Here are some pics proving that you can comfortably fit 2 kids in the back of the GTR for your Mrs.

The only whinge I have is that you really need to have enough room to open the door at least half way to get your kids in and out of it. BUT having the GTR outweighs any inconvenience I have at the moment.

Long live Godzilla!!!

Years of wishing and hoping to own an R32 GTR "Godzilla" quickly disappeared after test driving a handful of examples (in white of course).

These included models from 1990-1994 Vspec and non-Vspec, factory standard and mildly tuned models.

There was even a white V-spec II model but with a price tag of $32,000! was just overpriced and way out of budget :(

Now, comparing the R32's price and age to the only '95 R33 GTR model I had test driven, it was a clear winner!

The interior of the R33 was not as out of date as the R32. It just looked modern compared to the boxy lines of the R32 (as seen below).

The overall condition of the exterior was uncomparable. Although I love the look of the R32 GTR's, the 33's paint was immaculate with no fading whatsoever.

So after a few minutes on the phone with Jen (Boxing day 2006) , we decided to make an offer to purchase the 33.

These are the first pics of the car that Ive decided to buy after selling my WRX in early 2004. Sorry, but the Barina and Astra in between do not count :) coz they're Jen's babies.

Notice the number plates? I prematurely ordered the plates "GTR-302" because of my obssessions with the R32 GTRs.

Specs? 1995 #2600 GTR as per VIN - rb26dett with factory 206kw - 89000klms - Trust Gracer air filters - catback exhaust - Nismo front spoiler......rest is as is from the factory.
